2025 Border Access Knockhill Stages: Thrills, Spills, and Rallying Action
The 2025 Border Access Knockhill Stages delivered an electrifying start to the rally season, with high-octane action, unpredictable weather, and fierce competition thrilling spectators at Scotland’s iconic Knockhill Racing Circuit.
First car out of the blocks was the spectacular Mitsubushi Lancer Evo IX of Ross Hunter and Chris Dodds, With some amazing commitment round the twists and turns of the circuit parts of the stages he was for sure a fan favourite throughout the event as seen below

With a strong entry list featuring some of the country’s top rally talents, the event saw drivers navigate the challenging mix of tarmac and gravel stages. The unpredictable Scottish weather added an extra layer of difficulty, with a wet start to the day and drying throught as the action went on making the surface slick and demanding precise car control.
From the start of the event the battle between the top two Ross Hunter and Peter Stewart had all the excitement you would expect from a single venue rally, The gap grew to 1s after 4 stages then by the end the Citreon drive pulled out the gap to .02 of a second finishing over all on the top step of the podium with a time of 51.18 for the day. The whole event run smooth even with some of the on stage retirements the whole team at Knockhill from the timing staff to the on track marshals getting the stage changes carried out so quickly to keep the flow of the day.
Drama Unfolds on the Stages
The Knockhill Stages are known for their demanding layout, and this year was no exception. Several competitors fell victim to the tricky conditions, with high-speed spins and off-track excursions adding to the drama.
Some of the other highlights of the day for the fans on site were the amazing sights and sounds of the MK2 Ford Escorts the the top car of Dave Bellerby and Callum Spoors finishing 11th over just 1 second behind the more powerful and modern entries.
After a thrilling day of competition, it was Peter Stewart and Harry Marchbanks who emerged victorious, mastering the treacherous conditions and showcasing impressive consistency across all stages. Ross Hunter and Chris Dodds put in a strong challenge, while Jonnie Mackay and Rachel Mathison rounded out the podium with a determined drive.
