BTCC 2024 Race 3 Donington Park
Reverse grid racing always brings an exciting prosptect to race 3 on the day, With Ex World Touring Car Champion Rob Huff lining up on Pole with Aiden Moffatt in Second.
The race got undereway under a very late afternoon low sun at 18:45 and heading down to turn 1 Adam morgan got a rocket start and lead the way into Redgate corner with the rest of the field battling hard. Coming on to lap 2 Rob Huff was all over the back of the BMW and pushing hard for the lead of the race.
At the end of lap 2 the top 6 were covered by under a second and Ash sutton made a strong pass on Jake Hill to take 5th position.
Lap 3 finished with Daryl Deleon stuck in the gravel trap bringing out a safety car to have his car moved to a safe location. with the current positions during the safety car, Morgan, Huff, Turkington, Sutton, Hill and Ingram.
After the safety car period the pack raced into the restart and half way round the lap Adam Morgan had a huge lock up and lost 2 places with Rob Huff taking over the lead of the race,
At half race distance the battle for the race lead between Moffat and Huff really het up with some massive battling going on the two drivers held each other up enough to bring the top 6 back into the mix with the 2 WSR BMWs ready to pick upof the spoils.
The top 6 battled hard through the remainder of the race trading positions every lap with Aiden Moffat holding off Colin Turkington and Ash Sutton to take his 5th BTCC victory.
Race 3 was another grandstand BTCC race under the golden late day sunshine a complete contrast to the start of the day and in the end Rob Huff finshed in 6th behind Tom Ingram 4th and Jake Hill 5th.
